The Tempest is one of Shakespeare’s best loved works and it's easy to see why schools have made it a staple of the curriculum. 

 

The Worcester Repertory Company’s unique production of The Tempest is the perfect way to introduce new students to the text as well as reignite a passion with experienced students. 

 

We are delighted to be able to bring you a unique offering that will compliment and enhance your classroom experience by bringing you a series of workshops that sit alongside the production and will help to nurture and develop the understanding of Shakespeare's masterpiece.

Director Q & A

For any school, block booking 10 + seats to the production, a question and answer session will be made available for you at your school with the production’s director, Ben Humphrey. 

 

Ben trained at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and was Associate Director of the Worcester Repertory Company for 6 years, before moving to Scotland where he was commissioned to create a new TV series for children, Time Sliders.

 

His work has been seen all over the globe and he is currently serving as the Acting Artistic Director of the Worcester Repertory Company. 

 

Your class will have up to two hours to develop their understanding of the text with the director of the production who will bring a unique insight into the challenges of bringing Shakespeare to life.

Performance Workshop

Available to all schools this workshop is designed to get your class up on their feet and out of the pages of the text. To truly appreciate and understand Shakespeare’s work, it must be experienced. Our practitioners will lead an entirely practical workshop designed to develop an understanding of character and text. Fun, vibrant and guaranteed to enhance any classroom work already undertaken these workshops will be provided by experienced educational practitioners who have a complete understanding of the national curriculum requirements at all levelss.

Two Hour Workshop

£120 (£90 to schools booking 10+ tickets to the production.)

Half Day Workshop

£220 (£150 to schools booking 10+ tickets to the production.)

Full Day Workshop

£300 (£250 to schools booking 10+ tickets to the production.)

Theatre Day Experience 

If you’re looking for a unique experience that will also benefit your classroom work, then the Theatre Day Experience is definitely for you.

 

Join the creative team from one of the busiest working theatres in the UK for an entire day of performance and theatre skills that compliments pre-existing classroom work surrounding The Tempest

 

Our team will help you to compare and understand the context surrounding Shakespeare’s work and give ‘hands on’ experience of a 21 Century theatrical venue. 

 

Pre-production, technical, performance and backstage work will all culminate in students creating their own interpretation of an excerpt of Shakespeare’s text, bringing his words to life in a unique way.
